Production stopped in March 2020 due to government restrictions
Line of Events
A retired CIA agent is hunted by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares, when an unknown man suddenly visits him after nearly three decades.. During this time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed with and subsequently treated for non-Hodgkins lymphoma. After he recovered, the series returned to production.
Presented at the 75th Emmy Awards (2024)
Bridges described the return as coming back after a "long weekend" on podcast in July 2022. This show starts off super strong with great action and a slowly unfolding backstory that leaves you very intrigued. Once you’re hooked by the fourth episode, things don’t go so well.
Lithgow and Bridges are excellent
Shawcat is a kind of ship’s anchor, delivering each line almost monotonously. None of the characters are particularly likeable. As the plot development and plot slow down after a few episodes, a lot of awkward dialogue fills its place.
How much more bad copy
It seems clear that the screenwriters were trying to recreate the style of The Counselor, a script written by Cormac McCarthy, but they didn’t succeed very well. The more literary style of The Counselor confused many viewers. I’ll keep watching, hoping things get better.
