The story of American photographer Lee Miller, a model who became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue magazine during World War II. Based on “The Lives of Lee Miller,” the only authorized biography of Lee Miller’s life, written by his own son, Anthony Penrose, and published in 1985. I didn’t know much about Lee Miller

The closing credits have some “what happened to” explanations; and some of Lee’s original photographs, often along with those that were recreated for the film. And Kate Winslet is perfect for this role
So I couldn’t understand why her life warranted a movie 80 years after the events on screen. My interest in seeing this was motivated by the casting of Kate Winslet, an actress who never fails to impress. She has the acting chops to dominate every scene, but it’s Lee Miller’s life that dominates my experience of the film.
All of this makes for a powerful story
Of course, this is also a testament to Kate Winslet, who never let her star quality overshadow the character she’s playing. Lee Miller’s courage and determination must have been incredible to have overcome the many obstacles to do what she did. As a result, she left us with an invaluable testimony to the inhumanity of the Holocaust, an event that is denied by some.
Lee Miller’s story certainly warrants the telling
Added to this is the moving portrayal of her relationship with her son.
