RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to capture the details and requirements of every space within a project. They are usually created by the client at the briefing phase (also called architectural programming in the US) of the design process. They may be updated throughout the design process to reflect modifications or to provide more information to those responsible for delivering the project.
The Room Data Sheets SmartTool is an efficient and accurate sheet view and scheduling utility for creating rooms (or space) data sheets in the Revit project. The tool is able to create 3D, plans, elevations, and schedule views for rooms or spaces that are parametrically named and numbered on new sheets.
By default, the tool will employ the Room Numbering template and Sheet Format that are set by the Revit project However, a different sheet name and style can be selected from the Tool Options tab. Click “Load configuration …” on the toolbar to replace current settings with previously saved configurations. This helps reduce the amount of needed for manual rework for different dimensions and types of rooms.
The tab ‘Naming’ permits users to choose whether the room or space you select is included in the Sheet Name text box which is located on the left of the screen. The ‘View Title: option determines what text appears in the title bar for each view. View Increment is the number of increments that exist between each view on the sheet. The option ‘Spacing’ can be turned on to regulate the space between each view on the sheet and the ‘Exclude View Titles in estimating view sizes on Sheets:’ will prevent titles from being included in determining the number of views that could fit on a sheet.
